Snowbird

My (not so) little brother, Kyle, had decided to stay out in the mission field during my dad's surgery, but then when he died, we all felt really strongly that Kyle should come home for a few days. There was a hurricane headed for Texas but luckily he was able to make it out of there in time to be able to attend the funeral, get some closure and say goodbye to my dad. It was so good to see him.

The day after the funeral we had the opportunity to spend the day up at Snowbird Resort. Oh what a much needed day that was! Things had been so busy and frantic the whole week trying to get all the arrangements made (who knew there was so much planning to be done for a funeral?), we barely had any time to process or even think, for that matter. So it was wonderful to be able to escape for the day. No phone calls, no funeral "business", no house overflowing with sympathy flowers... just a day to relax, talk and even play a little.

Lexi's really taken to my mom these past few weeks. She loves to sit in her lap, hold her hand, and tell her secrets (apparently). I love that they are getting this time together.

In the evening we went on a lovely walk/hike. Nothing more healing than being out in nature.

I'm so glad we were able to take that time as a family to get away for a little while. It was so healing to escape all the responsibilities and the "to do's" and instead, enjoy each other's company, laugh together, mourn together and take a breath of fresh air together.
