Palmyra, NY

Last week we had the opportunity to play with some dear old friends (still thinking about that grilled chicken, pesto pizza, Darice!) as well as check out all the cool church history sites in upstate New York.

Here we are at the Hill Cumorah visitors center.

I remember watching the dedication of the Palmyra Temple with my family from our stake center in Orem, Utah over 10 years ago. I remember thinking, at the time, that it would be so neat to be able to see it with my own eyes so this was a neat experience for me.


So our good friend's parents, the Kukahiko's, are currently serving a mission in Palmyra so it was fun to meet up with them. We got a personal tour of the Grandin building, which was where the first Books of Mormon were printed.


Getting the royal treatment at the Whitmer Farm (apparently the Kukahiko's made some calls Ü). This is where the first sacrament meeting of the restoration took place as well as where Joseph received revelation for 20 sections of the Doctrine and Covenants.

And to complete the spiritual tone of this religious experience, we were lucky enough to follow this beauty all the way home. Delightful!


And next on our agenda??

It was pretty cool to see the falls from this lookout point but it was nothing compared to this...

...Heading straight for the falls in a boat called Maiden of the Mist. This was SO COOL. Lexi loved getting soaked.
