We stayed one night in Ocean City and woke up the next day to go to Assateague Island. The kids and I read Misty of Chincoteague this summer so it was fun to go see the wild horses where the book took place.
The scenery was absolutely breath taking. To see the contrast between the water and the tall green grass, spotted with horses, was absolutely amazing. I felt like I was walking through a 360* landscape art piece.
The rangers ask that you don't touch or feed the horses, but you can walk right up to them without them even flinching.
We were able to attend a really cool program there where we learned all about crabbing. Then they supplied us with the equipment to go try it on our own.
We also learned about all the other slimy creatures swimming around in that water. Did you know there is such a thing as a sting-less jellyfish that glows in the dark? Well there is. We saw one!
